Vintage Racing in the Heart of France

Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 5.12.08 PMWe missed you, Monterey Historics, but not so much now!!! This weekend, we met up with old friends (and made some new ones) at the Angoulême Circuit des Remparts.

IMG_1569The beauty of this very special event, which started in 1939, is that they actually make a race track in the old town of Angoulême, the capital of the Charente department. It draws an enormous number of car-enthusiasts from all over Europe. Over three days, there are expositions, a concours d’elegance, a rally, and then the races. There are multiple race groups, from pre-war cars to 1980’s touring and sports cars.

Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 5.13.38 PMThere is a small fee to get into the paddocks, but roaming the streets, with cars exhibited all over town, is free. The city is buzzing with activity and we had a very good time there on Saturday. We are planning to book an apartment to enjoy the whole of next year’s affair.
