There’s a New Oven in Town

So we have this routine on Fridays. Our house cleaner, Corinne,  comes after dropping her kids off at school around 9:15, and we have exercise class from 10:00 to 11:00. Corinne stays for 3 hours (did I mention she only charges €10/hr and she’s excellent?) That’s why we have her come every week and the monthly nut is almost half what we paid in California for every other week service. Anyhoo, I digress…

After exercise is over and we bid everyone a Bon Weekend, we want to leave Corinne alone to do her thing, so we head downtown to grab a magazine, a croissant, and a coffee. Well today we popped into the corner bakery and everyone was drinking wine…at 11 in the morning!!!

We go there enough for them to know we’re American, so a gal came from the back kitchen and explained what was going on in English. They were celebrating their new oven! So with wine and snacks and lots of smiles, we enjoyed our “post-exercise leave-Corinne-alone” time with great company!!!

Gotta love this small-town feel.

This is so awesome!!! I think I’ll do champagne for my oven celebration. Looking forward to getting an old wedgewood gas oven. A new tradition has been made! Big hugs to you both.
