Move it, move it, move it!

There is so much to be accomplished every day before the big move. I feel like I’m my own drill sergeant!

The huge decision that must be accomplished in the next few days is deciding the size and quantity of ‘containers’ to order for our stuff.

The wood crate our stuff needs to fit inside!!!

The wood crate our stuff needs to fit inside!!!

As many of you know (and have been the recipients of), we are getting rid of almost everything we own. Our plan is to not have a huge amount of stuff drag us down. We are taking our clothing, our dearest books, photo albums, a few precious art pieces, some family heirlooms, and I’m limiting myself to just a FEW clocks!

After much research on international moves, I’ve decided to go the ‘pack it yourself’ route and am using a shipping service called UPakWeShip, http://upakweship.com/.
I’m finding it tricky to estimate the cubic feet we’ll need for all our stuff. I’ve localized our things on one side of the garage, but have yet to start packing because I want to have the best combination of box sizes to maximize the interior space. Kind of like a Rubik’s Cube. Ugh. THIS I can procrastinate with…because it’s hard…ouch!

More on the actual success of this system when the time comes…

You are truly inspirational to this Aptosian who isn’t quite ready to let go yet—and have just ordered the book “Getting Out: Your Guide to Leaving America (Updated and Expanded Edition) (Process Self-reliance Series)” by Mark Ehrman. Until I plan my own escape, I will vicariously live through yours—thanks to this blog—and oh yeah, walk Hidden Beach with yas and our four-legged buddies til your off to France!
