Farewell for Now

It’s our final day in our long countdown. Still a ton to do, but the end is here and we HAVE to wrap it up!

We’ve been having such fun the last two weeks saying ‘so long’ to many of our friends. Probably a bit too much eating out and definitely more alcohol than we’re used to, but so much fun sharing our plans. We are hoping to see many of you soon in the EU!!!

Since the buyers of our house are putting in hardwood floors, our 2-year old carpet was up for grabs, so instead of having it go to the landfill, we’ve offered it to a good friend who can re-install it in his house. Hoping it works out successfully. Accordingly, we’re planning our last night in California at the local Hilton…

Postscript—since I didn’t get this posted yesterday…
We were at the house wrapping things up until 10 pm last night. HUGE thanks go out to our ever-faithful Mario, my daughter Jessica, Lawrence and VL for rescuing us with their van, Al (who inherited the carpet), Brian (who orchestrated the carpet removal), and my dear husband.

When we were ready to pull out of the driveway, our good friends Mike and Donata surprised us with a delightful bottle of chilled Devaux French Champagne. Mmmm, délicieux!!! They followed us to the Hilton in Scotts Valley and we toasted our departure and planned for future get-togethers.

Slept well last night and we’re ready to go (well, maybe not Alfie, as he has gastrointestinal distress. Will send more updates soon!

Wednesday morning around lunch time, as I was dragging through work, I was thinking, I hope those two can sleep on the plane somehow because if they feel anything like me, they’re beyond tired/exhaustion—as it was a long long Tuesday! I think we all were incredible that day the way we all got everything pulled out and packed and there wasn’t much left by 10pm. I even saw magical dolphins jumping for joy when I snuck off to the beach earlier that eve so I new it was a special day.
I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and we’ll be putting the carpet in Friday and Saturday. I’ve got enough clothes from Theo that I could cover for him at the beach! I already returned Comcast equipment and will scan receipt and email to you along with the bon voyage pics we took on Tuesday night via email.
I hope you’re all situated in your new place by now and look forward to your posts.
Let me know if you need anything on this side of the globe, al & buddy & bruno

We were SO tired. And sore. Out of 853 seats, I managed to pick the one with the non-functional entertainment system. As an alternative, I slept. And I slept very well (the guy next to me exclaimed about my uncanny ability to sleep and I quickly apologized for my snores!) Actually the easiest European flight to date.

Thank you, thank you, Al, for helping us get the final crap out. Hope the carpet install goes smoothly!

    Kisses to Buddy and Bruno!
